The story: A boy… a girl… a group of evil scientists determined to take over the world.  The end of the world is at hand–but who knew it would start with a garage sale?  When Nick Slate’s family decides to clean out Great-Aunt Greta’s house and celebrate moving in with a giant yard sale, they can’t figure out why so many random people would want so much trashy old stuff.  But this is just the start of the weirdness–it gets stranger by the minute when each piece of yard-sale junk ends up possessing the power to help bring about the biggest disaster in human history.  Now Nick and his friends have to find all that junk and get it back–before the end of the world arrives!

Mrs. Friend says: If you’re fan of Neal Shusterman, this book will surprise you.  It’s an action-packed read, more like Rick Riordan than your usual Neal Shusterman story, and even though there are no demi-gods here, there’s plenty to make everyone happy (and yes, GIRLS will like it too!).
