SHUG, by Jenny Han

How can you get ready for tomorrow when you can't figure out today?

How can you get ready for tomorrow when you can't figure out today?

“Shug” is short for “Sugar” and that’s Annemarie Wilcox.  She’s just going into junior high, and she can’t figure out why life seems so complicated all of a sudden!

Her best friend seems like she wants to hang with the popular crowd, her best friend Mark is looking really hot to her (how weird is that???) and she gets assigned to tutor the class geek, who suddenly seems a lot nicer than he used to.  Add to that the fact that her dad is traveling on business all the time and her mom drinks too much to keep from being lonely … yep.  Life is complicated.

“Shug” is a heroine who’s believable and spunky.   A fun read!
